Crucial Aid in Remote Villages of Uttrakhand in Fight against Novel Coronavirus

Wednesday, May 12, 2021

Amidst the chaos caused by the unforgiving second wave of the novel coronavirus, as it grips the country in its clutches, SSCF, as part of its ongoing fight against the pandemic, continues its drive to provide critical, urgent and immediate, relief in adopted remote villages of Yamkeshwar, Uttrakhand. On a recent request for supplying life – saving medicines and medical instruments to tackle coronavirus, SSCF, disbursed Medical Kits to Primary Healthcare Centres of adopted villages. The Medical Kits comprised of level I and level II home treatment medicines, prescribed by the Indian Council of Medical Research, and included Paracetamol, Ivermectin, Doxycycline, Ranitidine, B – Complex, Vitamin C and Vitamin D along with medical instruments including Oxymeters and Thermometers. In terms of dosage per patient, the medicines supplied were sufficient to treat a minimum of 500 Patients for a single week’s course. While the expenses for the logistics, including procurement and distribution, of the medicines and medical instruments, was borne by SSCF in full, SSCF understood that the guidelines for prescribing and dispensing the medicines would be at the sole discretion of the Doctor in Charge of his/her PHC in consonance with those prescribed by the Indian Council of Medical Research and the State Government and therefore requested the Doctor’s in Charge to follow suit.

A New Sun Rises Over the Hills of Yamkeshwar – SSCF’s Clean Energy Program

Saturday, August 04, 2018

Today, as the morning sun rose over the beautiful hills of Yamkeshwar, Uttrakhand, its warm rays brought new meaning for the villagers residing in the remote villages adopted by SSCF. In a most welcome change SSCF, in its Clean Energy Program under its Community Healthcare Program, installed solar panels in Primary Healthcare Centres of adopted villages of Yamkeshwar. The continuous generation of electricity through clean solar energy was aimed to increase the availability of Doctors, Paramedics and Nurses for the villagers and to see a stark increase in the number of patients who could now be given better care due to accessibility to infrastructure which required a constant source of electricity. One of the most basic yet crucial developments, which were also achieved through SSCF’s efforts, was the introduction of mini refrigerators which, through the constant supply of electricity, could be used from today to store life- saving anti-venoms and vaccines.
